On Tour in Hereford

Another awesome day on our national tour at Hereford Baptist Church! We saw over 100 guys gather together for some great worship, fun stuff and some epic seminars.

CVM-Hereford01a.jpgThe day kicked off with worship followed by an introduction to the code from CVM's Ben Harding. After a quick pit stop for tea and coffee we went straight into the seminars. Nick Welford (AKA 'low sperm count boy') spoke on Code IV - 'I will not cheat in anything, personal or professional'. There were some great discussions had about how we as men can struggle with integrity in our relationships and careers and Nick suggested some practical applications that we could introduce into our lives. Carl Beech spoke on Code V - 'I will look away from the gutter, but be prepared to pull people out of it'. He underlined our need to exercise righteous anger standing up to issues like abuse against women and porn.

This was followed by lunch which consisted of a generous portion of sausage and mash which was made by some of the kind ladies at HBC. The guys enjoyed messing around with the pool table, football table and dart board. There was a competition to see who could get the highest score with 6 darts, the winner getting to choose anything they liked from the CVM resource stand (except the money box).

After lunch we had more seminars from Ben Harding and Nick Welford. Nick tackled Code VIII - 'I will treat men and women as my brothers and sisters', whilst Ben Harding got stuck into Code III - 'I will unashamedly make him known through my actions and words', asking the question 'Why Jesus?'. It's important for us guys to be able to give a reason for our faith in Jesus so our mates can understand and respect where we are coming from.

We went for the two stop strategy, having one more refreshment pit stop before Carl ended the day with a cracking talk on Code XII - 'If I fail I will not give up. He never gives up on me'. He spoke about how God had led him to where he is today and of the many (some quite amusing) failures he had suffered along the way.

We finished as we started with some great worship before heading home!

All in all, an excellent day!
