I am doing the Tough 10 Delamere Forest 10k Run
for CVM because of a certain hope that
I will see my dad again!â€
This was the message sent by one of the guys who was at The Gathering.
Have a quick read about why he’s doing it. If you want to sponsor him for a few quid you can do so here.
‘Thanks all for a great Gathering. I have decided to do a 10k run to raise money for CVM. I am doing the Tough 10 Delamere Forest 10k Run with a couple of mates (Ed and Rich) on 12th November, for CVM because of a certain hope that I will see my dad again!
My dad had a short battle with pancreatic cancer, and on Sunday 5th June 2016 passed away from this life to a life in eternity with Jesus Christ.
2 weeks previous he had a CT Scan to find out what was going on in his body. It showed extensive tumours on his pancreas, liver, lungs and spine. With me his son, his daughter and his wife by his side, he passed away peacefully. He will never be forgotten.
I'm doing this because I know time is precious, and there are many sons, fathers and grandfathers who need reaching with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
And this is my personal hope.
My personal hope, is a sure and certain hope. Anchored to a promise, that Jesus Himself made when HE said...
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes [AND TRUSTS] in him shall not perish but have eternal life.â€
John 3:16
I had the privilege of sharing this hope with my dad in the last stages of his life, by giving him a booklet that CVM produce called ‘The Crazy Way’. It's after reading that book and me explaining things to him, that he asked me if we could pray together. In that prayer he asked Jesus to forgive his sins and make him God’s child.
And now my hope is complete because Jesus doesn’t lie, what He promises will happen. So I know, without a shadow of doubt, I WILL see my dad again….
Please support me in this cause, I am by no means physically fit, but I have 5 months to train and lose weight. Not only to be able to complete this challenge (which it truly is for me), but getting healthy so I am around a long time for my own children.'
God Bless,
Jon
