On Monday night over 550 men & boys packed into Ballynahinch Baptist Church to hear the life stories of some of Ulster Rugby's top stars in a night that will be remembered for a long time.
We had prize giveaways including a signed jersey - which I found very hard to part company with, worship with Ryan Griffith and his band, the gospel was presented and in true CVM style one 22 year old guy walked to the front of the church, to a thunderous cheer and applause to give his life to Jesus - now that's what it's all about.
It was an honour to watch men and boys, of all generations look on in amazement as they listened to their sporting hero's Johann Muller (Captain), Ruan Pienaar & Paul Marshall talk about putting Jesus Christ first in their life - above everything. We also heard from Shane Logan - CEO at Ulster Rugby and his journey to faith: "warts and all" - truly inspiring.
I would love to tell you more but we have another 7/8 of these events coming up in the next 12 months so you'll just have to get along too hear the guys!
The next two are:
Monday 25 March 2013 - Seven Towers Leisure Centre, Ballymena
Monday 15 April 2013 - Fivemiletown College, Fivemiletown
Before the night began we where so mindful that the last big event the church had to deal with was the funeral of Nevin Spence, his father and brother. Nevin was a rising star at Ulster Rugby before a tragic farming accident in September 2012 called him home to heaven sooner than we would have liked.
Please continue to pray for the entire church, Pastor Rodney Stout & his team and of course the Spence family.
