CVM Scotland began life in 2010 after a chance meeting between Carl Beech and Stephen McGuire at Spring Harvest. As they began chatting they quickly realised that they both had the same burning desire to see the men of Scotland come to know Jesus and the first seeds of 'CVM Scotland' were born.
Stephen headed up CVM Scotland until March 2017, when he took on a pastoral role in his local church. Under his leadership, the ministry steadily gathered momentum, from not being very well known in Scotland to now working with 12 churches and counting. The work in these churches ranges from the initial contact and discussions on how to get started in men’s ministry right through to churches who have signed up to partner their men’s groups.
In April 2017, Ricky Bain, who is based in Aberdeenshire, took the role as the Regional Director for the North of Scotland, but from September 2019 he will step into the National Director role for all of Scotland.
This will mean more responsibility for Ricky, but he is ready for the challenge to cover all of his home nation for CVM.
Our vision is to keep increasing the number of partner churches in Scotland, to recruit Area Co-ordinators in all major cities, to have additional Regional or Town days in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen and ultimately we want to equip, resource and encourage the local church to focus on men’s ministry in Scotland so that Jesus can transform the men of this great nation.
In February 2019, we did the CVM Roadshow in Dundee with Carl and Nathan, this was a huge success with nearly 130 folks attending, and it was great seeing people come from all over Scotland.
Next year will be an exciting year in Scotland with CVM, in May we will combine with the Wilderness to do an event at Loch Tay, this will be a brilliant day for the Men in Scotland.
In October CVM Scotland will have the Code Roadshow, which again will be a new exciting event, with Carl and Nathan coming up to Edinburgh. We are looking to do an Event with Abernethy too, so look out for a date in the Calendar.
Our dream and vision is to have a Gathering in Scotland for 2021, so 2020 will be the year of many Regional days to wet the appetite for a Scottish Gathering.
God is on the move all over the UK, and for me in Scotland, I am so excited, and ready to see a mighty move for the Men of this Nation to unite and see Scotland changed for Christ through CVM.
Please do get in touch with us if you would like to join in the amazing adventure that God is leading us on.
