Grew up in the south-east and studied Chemistry initially, then a PhD in Biochemistry / Bioengineering. Fifteen or so years in academic research (in Glasgow, Sweden, Cardiff, London, the USA and Liverpool), working on opioids and pain transmission. Then another 15 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry, working on bioanalysis of new drugs in early clinical development. Ended up as senior director working part-time and supporting a second-generation church plant in Sandwich, Kent. Quit all that to get ordained and ended up as vicar (and change-bringer) for four rural, traditional parishes in mid-Kent.
Decided to follow Jesus at the age of about 17 and he has been my guide and companion throughout.
I enjoy reading, fishing, sailing, DIY, technology, preaching, small groups, listening to and playing music (singing, guitar and cello); and the chance to discuss issues of science and faith.
Married to Helen (for 40+ years) with four children.
Retired from being a vicar in 2016 and moved to Malmesbury.
