Last Saturday we saw around 200 guys gather for an awesome day of worship and teaching at 'Rooted & Booted', the CVM Sussex and Surrey men’s day. After some great worship CVM’s Director for Southern England, Steve Martin, set the ball rolling by giving his testimony and spoke about his life as a Royal Navy Officer. He also introduced and unpacked the 12 point honour code;
12 codes to make you the man that God intended you to be. After a quick coffee break Carl Beech got the guys fired up with a talk on the difference between men and women and the importance of getting guys fired up for Jesus.
Lunch was a choice of lasagne or steak and stilton pie. This gave the guys a chance to relax and have a cuppa before
cracking on with the seminars.
They got stuck into topics on motivating men, the work place, clean living, family, young living and loneliness. All of the seminars looked at how we can become greater men of God in those particular areas and what a movement of men who lived by The Code could do in our current society.
After another inspiring talk from Carl with a Q and A session and some worship to finish, the guys headed home again.
Some quotes from the day:
"Praise God for an excellent day in Crawley - I attended the seminar on workplace living on Saturday and wanted to thank you for some excellent insights on how to go about my walk with Christ at work."
"For me the renewed challenge for a Jesus focused life sits alongside other things that God has been saying to me. Anyway enough blithering, thank you again for giving me a kick when I needed it."
"Thanks to everyone at CVM, very encouraging. We need to get up and LIVE for Jesus in everything we do!"
