MARK’S GOSPEL COMIC BOOK BIBLE KICKSTARTER LAUNCH
The ‘Word for Word Bible Comic’ continues to be developed with the Gospel of Mark as the next installment to be brought to life on the page.
"Historically accurate, unabridged and untamed". The Word for Word Bible Comic is a steadily building graphic novel series that presents the unedited Biblical scriptures, in full, with bold contemporary artwork in order to attract the 15-40 year adult audience.
Next point in the journey for artist Simon Amadeus Pillario is the New Testament book of Mark.
With the books; Judges, Ruth and Joshua already completed and not needing publish in the traditional ‘Bible contents order’, Simon wanted to make one of the Gospels his next part of the project, so has launched ‘Kickstarter funding’ for the book.
Starting on Friday 3rd March, this graphic novel series returns to Kickstarter and aims to raise a minimum of £15,000 in just 37 days.
"Kickstarter funding is all or nothing, so it's been a crazy ride but one filled with much blessing. With something that has never been done before it can be impossible to find standard investment, but with crowdfunding you can prove the product by taking it straight to the customer." explains Pillario.
The three key points of this series have always been to include every word of Scripture, to make it as historically accurate as possible and never to water down the content for children, but present the unedited story for an adult audience (15+). Now, in addition to those, the creator Simon Amadeus Pillario intends to present the events of the Gospel of Mark in harmony with the other Gospel accounts.
It is also intended that Jesus will be portrayed as a stronger, more authoritative character than we are used to seeing in visual culture.
Pillario continues, "One of the main aspects is to make sure he does not come across as weak, boring or judgemental, but really challenging the authorities and turning things on their heads."
