VIDEO - CARL BEECH ON PHONE IN MARATHON
CVM President was caught on camera chatting on a mobile phone during the Chesterfield Marathon, ruining an artistic video running shot in the process.
Taking on a marathon is hard enough but when CVM President, Carl Beech set off in Chesterfield’s annual 26 miler to raise vital funds for us, he gave himself a bit more to do.
Beechy, who’s never far from his mobile, took the phone with him in order to Tweet his progress around the course. Then at about 15 miles in, he felt the need to phone his mum (as you do). He claims he wanted to find out how his wife, Karen, had fared in the accompanying half marathon event.
At the same time, cameraman and CVM supporter Andrew Robinson had his camera all ready for an artistic ‘blur to clear’ video shot of Carl as he traversed the course, but what he got was footage of the CVM President in the middle of a family ‘meeting’.
Karen completed the half marathon, as did Carl the full distance, making it a great Team Beech accomplishment.
Carl, who so far hasn’t quite reached his fundraising target gave his summary of his marathon experience.
"Fairly hilly, a bit sunny in places and far too many jelly babies eaten on the way round. A good marathon all round and all for a top cause."
His efforts (albeit aided by his mother) will help raise money for strategic CVM work towards introducing more men to Jesus.
