MLJ has just returned from helping host a great men’s weekend on the spectacular coastline of the North Gower in Wales. This is the fourth year of a partnership between a number of local guys with a heart to introduce their mates to other Christian blokes in a relaxed (I use this term lightly) manner and CVM Wales.
The weekend commences on Friday evening with all the 'gladiators' arriving from different parts of Wales and the UK, over 70 guys this year. A full menu is provided throughout the weekend in what is by all accounts a great facility in a great location. A midnight walk off the headland taking in the constellations set the scene for two days of full-on activity based events.
With the guys in teams with innovative names, this year’s challenges involved shooting stuff, making stuff and hitting stuff through the likes of laser clay-pigeon shooting, a scrap-heap challenge and volley ball.
The Saturday evening included the compelling real-life story of Darrell Tunningley a former armed robber, and a massive bonfire with a few beers. A number of guys responded to the gospel which is of course the main aim of CVM’s existence. If you’re looking for anything other than a relaxed weekend, come and join us next year for Escape 12-14th Oct 2014.
Cheers, MLJ
Shooting stuff!
The Winning Team for the Scrap-Heap Challenge (this had to survive a down-hill challenge against the clock and an assault course – well done to the Boys from Dinas Powys).
