A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood. PG.

Just had to write this after an unexpected visit to the cinema last week; I highly recommend seeing the film. You won’t pick up from the posters and trailer that this film is a powerfull ( if understated) portrayal of the loving, forgiving nature of God.

Spoiler alert! Mr Rogers is a Christian, and the story is about forgiveness, redemption and reconciliation of a father and son. Lloyd Vogel is an investigative journalist who receives an assignment to profile Fred Rogers, aka Mr. Rogers. He approaches the interview with skepticism, as he finds it hard to believe that anyone can have such a good nature. But Roger’s empathy, kindness and decency soon chips away at Vogel’s jaded outlook on life, forcing the reporter to reconcile with his own painful past. The performances by Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys are outstanding

I would say it best to see this film without knowing too much about it (hence the short review) and let it catch you unawares, but seriously don’t miss it and make sure you take a mate with you.
