Meet the Team
Grant Robbins: Redhill and Reigate
I am Grant and I grew up in South Africa before moving over to England in 2001 and finally settled in Redhill in 2006 after spending some time in London and Dorking. I completed my Diploma in Civil Engineering and worked in the Engineering field for 20 years, both in South Africa and England. I then felt the need for a career change and am currently working for a local charity as a financial bookkeeper, where I have been for the last 10 years.
I am married to Shaleen and have a cat named Mack. I was a member of the Redhill Street Pastors team for about 2 years before taking on the role of volunteer Chaplain at Gatwick airport for the last 3 years. I am at Gatwick on two Saturdays each month where I lead short Christian services at the chapels in both terminals. I have assisted in the Men’s Ministry at my church Redhill Baptist for several years where I have arranged groups to go and watch various live sporting events. I co-lead a men’s bible study as well as leading a group which tries to support, raise awareness and assist in the recovery of those struggling with addictions.
I came across CVM about 10 years ago after attending one of their conferences. Since then I have been a keen supporter of their various events and have been part of a group from our church who have attended The Gathering for the last few years. I am excited to become even more involved as I take on this new role.
I enjoy watching all sports especially rugby and cricket and am an avid supporter of the Harlequins rugby team. I also managed to be one of the volunteers during the 2012 London Olympic & Paralympic games and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
In my younger days when I was much fitter than I am now I was a very keen runner and competed in various marathons and ultra-marathons (56 miles) as well as some mountain biking and open water swimming events..
